The Spirit of Australia Foundation (SoAF) was established to remember and commemorate Australia’s heritage.  Their aims are to:

 

  • educate Australians, especially school students, about great Australian role models who have made a significant contribution to our country in a variety of endeavours, and

  • remember and commemorate Significant Australians and events

 

Sir John Monash, honoured on our $100 banknote, is the SoAF iconic figure. A peaceful man, Monash made his name as an engineer and lawyer. He was appointed the first Australian Commander leading all Australian Forces on the Western Front in World War 1.

Military history and heritage is an important part of Australia's national story. MHHV Inc. aims to encourage interest in Australian and especially Victorian military history and heritage in all of its forms; to develop and engage in activities related to its research, preservation, promotion, education and commemoration. MHHV also aims to promote the interests of its member organisations in the community at large and to promote communication and cooperation within the military history and heritage community.
